One of only two regions in the world with the unique combination of climate and topography that results in brilliant fall foliage, the Valley is a magnificent place to enjoy throughout the Autumn months. Glorious colours and crisp, cool weather make it an excellent season for exploring the countryside. This is the backdrop for the annual Rural Ramble in the Ottawa Valley. The Rural Ramble is a traditional self-guided driving tour throughout the Ottawa Valley. Established in 1994, the Rural Ramble quickly became a beloved tradition for locals and visiting city dwellers. Every year thousands of visitors flock to the region to experience rural life first hand. The Rural Ramble is organized by the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association (OVTA) and over the years has grown from a small two day farm tour to a free, on-going fall festival featuring four themes: Adventure & Exploration, Agriculture & Food, History & Heritage and Arts & Culture. The 2013 Rural Ramble is a free online event, running from September 1st to October 31st. Rural Ramblers’ will be able to customize their own Autumn touring experiences based on the themes and location that interests them the most.
